Chatbots, AI assistants in the browser and autonomous AI agents are entering companies faster than the IT department can approve them. This creates so-called shadow AI: tools that employees trust with company data but that nobody knows about. On 30 September 2026 WithSecure introduced Elements AI Security – a feature that shows these tools in one place.
What Elements AI Security shows
- Shadow AI. The AI Security Dashboard and the software inventory show the AI tools used in the company, even those that were never formally installed.
- Browser extensions. You can see which AI-related extensions are installed on managed computers.
- Browsing control. Building on the existing Browsing Protection, you can see and restrict the use of AI services in the browser.
- AI agent identities. Integration with Microsoft Entra ID shows AI agents and assistants that operate with their own credentials.
Why it matters
WithSecure cites the Gartner forecast that by 2028, 22% of cyberattacks and data leaks will involve generative AI. Banning AI is not enough – first you need to know who uses it and where. Only then can you decide which tools to allow and which to restrict.
Who can use it and when
The feature is available in a time-limited Early Access program for eligible WithSecure Elements subscribers. The vendor says commercial features will be added in the coming months. It is intended for company security teams and IT service providers (MSPs) that manage customer infrastructure through Elements.
